Laura McCarthy is a Halifax native and received her combined honors degree in microbiology & immunology and biochemistry & molecular biology from Dalhousie University. Laura obtained her Juris Doctorate law degree from the Schulich School of Law in 2012. Laura articled with Cox & Palmer of Halifax before joining Howe Law in June 2013. Laura opened McCarthy Kuselewski Law in June 2014 where she currently practices family and criminal law.

Lyle Howe was born in November 1984 to single teenage parents. Lyle is a north end Halifax native with roots to Africville.
Lyle is no stranger to the mean streets of Halifax. He had to face it head on when his young cousin was murdered. At that point, Lyle realized that he was going to work hard and make a difference for the people of his community.
He worked hard through high school and graduated on the honor roll and was accepted to Dalhousie University in 2003. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in psychology and a minor in Law and Society.
In 2006, Lyle was accepted to Dalhousie University Law School. Lyle continued to work hard and in 2009, graduated from law school and was called to the bar in June of 2010.
Lyle worked at various Law firms in Halifax and Dartmouth before he opened Howe Law in August 2011.

Ray is a member of the bars of Ontario (87), Nova Scotia (96), Newfoundland and Labrador (06) and Manitoba (13). He has practiced in various levels of courts in each province, including jury trials and criminal appeal work.
In Manitoba his practice was in criminal Big Case Management, including murders and attempts, aggravated assaults and sexual assaults, robberies and arsons.
He returns to Nova Scotia in order to reconnect with the bar and the community. He will dedicate his practice to criminal law but will use his vast experience in other areas as well.

Originally from Ghana, Godfred completed his Master of Laws from the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University in Halifax, and Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario. He has also received the Certificate of Qualification in Law from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA). He received his Bachelor of Laws LLB and Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Ghana, in Ghana. Godfred was called to the Nova Scotia Bar as a lawyer and admitted to membership in the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society after having completed his articling process with Stewart McKelvey Law firm in Halifax.
Godfred believes that everyone deserves an opportunity to be heard, even if that means giving people a second chance. Godfred will work with his clients using whatever the law offers, to provide the best solution to the clients’ problems. Godfred is resilient, hardworking and brings a toughened approach to his clients. He does not rest and will do everything within the law to ensure success for his clients. Alexander is a barrister and solicitor in our Halifax office with an interest in all areas of law and a passion for helping the community.
Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, Alexander obtained his law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015. While at law school, Alexander stayed grounded and connected to his passions such as, basketball, charity work, friends, and family. Alexander co-chaired the Dalhousie Schulich School of law 1st year sports committee, and Alexander also helped coach several youth and university basketball teams while in law school. Additionally, Alexander was the recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Student Community Award presented by Challenging Aids and Malaria in Africa (“CHAMA”).
Alexander has gained valuable experience in criminal law and family law volunteering with Nova Scotia Legal Aid for three years while in law school. He also furthered his experience spending six months with Dalhousie Legal Aid and expanding his legal experience into youth criminal and poverty law. Additionally, Alexander worked for the Federal Department of Justice in the tax and civil litigation sector.
Prior to attending law school, Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology from Saint Mary’s University. Alexander also attended Kings College where he competed as a member of the King’s College Varsity Men’s Basketball Team.
Alexander is looking forward to continue helping the community, while staying connected to the things that have made him the man he is today.
